3 Ways the Cancer Care Program Can Make a Difference | Lookworthy.com

It’s almost impossible to not know someone whose life has been touched by cancer. That’s why for years we’d been attracted to launching a program that works to make a positive impact on the life of cancer patients. It wasn’t until we met INNOVATIVE SKINCARE® that we were finally able to make it a reality.

Next Thursday, October 8, we launch our first Cancer Care Spa Day Event with a ribbon cutting with the Madison County Chamber at 10:30 a.m. and a day of treatments from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We are thrilled to be able to open our doors to those going through cancer treatments and are excited by the possibility we have to make an impact in our community. Here are three ways we hope this program can do so:

It gives cancer patients a chance for gentle, pampering touch.

From surgeries and hospital stays to treatments with harsh effects, battling cancer is not a gentle affair. A spa treatment offers a type of touch often lacking when going through cancer–one that is focused on relaxation and pampering. Touch is a fundamental human need and can do wonders for the mind and body, making a spa treatment a tiny piece of the healing puzzle.

It addresses often neglected side effects of cancer treatments.

Cancer treatments are well-known for their ill-effects, but those on the skin and face are often second thoughts. From extremely dry and cracked skin to radiation burns and surgical scars to puffy eyes and dark circles–radiation and chemotherapy take a toll that is often uncomfortable, painful, or makes the patient self-conscious. We firmly believe skincare issues are a quality of life issue in these cases, and we want to play a role in the solution.

It’s a feel-good service outside of the sterile, cold environment of a hospital.

Hospitals aren’t known for warmth and comfort, but medical buildings often dominate a cancer patient’s life. While some hospitals offer spa-like treatments, stepping outside of a medical facility can completely change the experience. Lookworthy features a small, warm and inviting space that is an escape from the outside world. This space, paired with a customer service-driven team, offers a better opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.
